On Friday, May 18th at 7pm Mariposa Director David Blair will host a multi-cultural panel who will describe their childhoods and, in particular, their relationships to parents and grandparents. They will address the questions: How is respect shown to the elders in their culture? How are knowledge and culture transmitted between the generations? Are traditional relationships holding their own in the world of global youth culture?
Following the panel discussion, the audience will be invited to ask questions and share their own experiences.
Panelists will be Ricardo Barreto who grew up in Mexico, Nila Gandhi-Schwatlo in India, Lina Hervas in the Philippines and Segun and Seyi Olorunfemi in Nigeria.
“Childhood Panel” is part of the Mariposa’s exhibition “Becoming—A Child’s Journey to Adulthood” which continues through mid July.
