The New Hampshire Institute of Art presents 'Monkey: A Journey to the West' on Wednesday, Feb. 22 in the French Building Auditorium located at 140 Concord St., Manchester. The event is free and open to the public.
Institute faculty member and performance artist Sebastian Lockwood presents this great and beloved Asian epic. We follow Monkey from his origin, his becoming King of the Monkeys, his ascent to heaven and the havoc he wreaks there; and his final imprisonment by Buddha for 500 years under a mountain.
This version is based on the new translation by Anthony C. Wu.
Institute students will create the set for the show and a Soundscape will be provided by The John Singer Sargent Choir.
