Our Programs

Discover Monadnock & Calendar

Arts Alive! has partnered with The Monadnock Travel Council, The Chambers of Commerce, Local Media, and Cultural & Educational Institutions to develop the Discover Monadnock brand, which promotes the Monadnock Region: its cultural events and resources, its hospitality sector, its retail and other businesses, its natural environment, and its economic development opportunities. The program facilitates a website, events calendar, social media presence, cooperative advertising opportunities, and participates in the regional branding task force.

Creative Workforce

Arts Alive! facilitates communication and collaboration among the arts, businesses, and host communities in order to increase investment in the arts and culture, increase audiences and participants in the creative economy, and ensure that all partners benefit from the arrangement. By conducting 2-3 Plenary Sessions each year, Arts Alive plans how Arts & Businesses can partner and interact through programming, events, marketing, and shared resources. Currently, we are focusing on the “Creative Workforce.” Innovation, systems design, problem solving, and worker productivity are all fueled by creativity. How can businesses engage their workforce in the arts to foster enhanced creativity at work and employees who can think outside of the box.

Artist to Artist

Artist to Artist is a free professional development workshop series for those involved in the Creative Industries in the Monadnock Region. Workshops primarily focus on business development skills, but also delve into creative partnership models. Past workshop topics have included Marketing, Licensing Your Work, and The Makerspace Movement. This program is conducted in partnership with the Hannah Grimes Center.

Fiscal Sponsorship

Arts Alive! provides opportunities for new arts organizations or projects to get off the ground, secure funding, and receive organizational guidance. Through fiscal sponsorship, groups may utilize Arts Alive!’s nonprofit status to apply for grants and collect tax-deductible donations. Arts Alive! also acts as a resource and networking tool for these projects to connect with volunteers, donors, and other support.

Creative Economy Advocacy

The NH Creative Communities Network (NHCCN)

Established in October, 2008, the NHCCN is a statewide consortium of local and regional arts councils, municipally associated arts commissions, arts presenters, arts service organizations, and community building organizations (chambers of commerce, main street programs, municipal economic development departments) that support strengthening the arts infrastructure in their communities and regions. Membership is free and open to organizations/agencies involved in advancing the creative economy and arts-related initiatives.

Creative Communities Exchange (CCX)

Arts Alive was proud to host New England Foundation for the Arts’ Conference on Creative Communities in downtown Keene, NH in June, 2015. “The hallmark of a strong creative economy is the collaboration between the arts sector and non-arts partners,” says Dee Schneidman, Research Manager for NEFA. “CCX 2015 will take place in Keene, New Hampshire, a community that demonstrates strong cross-sector partnerships between the arts and local business, local government, the local colleges, the Monadnock region, and Arts Alive, this year's local host.” The CCX is a peer-to-peer exchange of the strategies used in successful creative economy initiatives around New England. This professional development event is for New England leaders who are engaged in creative economy and creative placemaking projects that leverage the local creative sector in order to spur revitalization and growth of the broader community.

Ewing Arts Awards

Arts Alive! partners with the Keene Sentinel to recognize exceptional artists in the Monadnock region. 2015 was the innaugural Ewing Arts Awards, where over 270 people were in attendance to celebrate 15artists or arts groups

Governor’s Conference on Tourism

Working collaboratively with the NH Division of Travel & Tourism Development and with other statewide partners, the Travel Council produces the Governor's Conference on Travel & Tourism held each spring. Arts Alive was on the planning committee for the conference in 2015, titled "Arts Around the Mountain."

Arts Alive! makes presentations to community organizations, selectboards, and city councils to promote the economic impact of the arts sector in the Monadnock region.
