Jessica Gelter, Executive Director

Gelter is a dedicated nonprofit leader with over ten years of experience in community outreach, team leadership, event management, and program development and evaluation. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Boston University’s theater conservatory program, and a Certificate in Arts Management from the University of Massachusetts.

In her spare time she practices her art - as a musician, playwright, actress, and theater director, and was featured recently on the National Endowment for the Arts website. She lives in Brattleboro, Vermont with her husband James and daughter Evelyn.


Sara Jane LaFleur, Communications Intern

Sara is a senior at Keene State College studying for a BS in Communications. She is responsible for social media posts, communications about news and events, and for developing a campaign in conjunction with the Arts Alive! Marketing Committee to celebrate our members.

Matthew Leese, Social Media Guru

Matthew Leese, is a conductor, baritone, educator and stage director. He engages in various collaborative projects which stimulate our community. He manages the Arts Alive! Twitter and Instagram handles, sharing community news and events with our followers.

Kate Dean, Fundraiser

Kate Dean is a Creative Economy professional who just completed her masters degree from NH Institute of Art. She researches and drafts grant requests, and assists with development work.

Sarah Lennon, Communications and Development Intern, Keene State College

Sarah is pursing her Bachelor of Arts in Communications at Keene State College, minoring in Spanish and Creative Writing. She brings her communication, writing, and social media skills to the work of Arts Alive! in 2016. In her free time she is also president of the Keene State College Feminist Collective and is volunteering for the Bernie Sanders campaign in New Hampshire.

Owen Coursin, Creative Workforce Project Manager

His experience, education, and skill set as both an educator and artist position Owen well to develop a workshop and “tool kit” that gives artists and employers ways to increase creativity in the workplace. One of the best ways to devise new and innovative solutions to a variety of challenges that may be encountered in the work environment is by approaching those situations from different perspectives, which requires the application of creative thought.

Kate Dean, Past Executive Director

Kate Dean is a practicing artist and an integrative nutrition, health, and creativity coach. At Arts Alive! she grew the organization's business and municipal government relationships, and was instrumental in the planning and start-up phase of the Discover Monadnock project.

Susan Farrell, Past Executive Director

Susan has been a resident of Surry, NH for 20 years. She earned her BA at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, an MS in Library and Information Science at Simmons College, and her Executive MBA at Pace University. From 2007-2009, she developed, implemented and evaluated training programs for nonprofit leaders and board members in the Giving Monadnock program. Susan was one of the founding members of Arts Alive! and its first Executive Director from 2009-2012.
