Arts Alive has been advocating for an arts corridor in Keene for a few years now. So far, we have acted on this vision with pop-up programs like the Elm Leaf wayfinding project and the annual Elevate the Arts Fest.
Long-term, the arts corridor encompasses ideas about a covered structure for the arts/farmers' market and festivals and painted crosswalks as part of the Gilbo Ave./Railroad St. corridor plan. Now, we have a chance to make it happen! A covered area, etc. could be integrated into the grant funds the city is currently applying for - no additional funds would need to be raised.
Here’s how to get involved!
Get (re)introduced to the Arts Corridor on April 1st from 5 - 5:30pm. Share any thoughts, strategies, or questions about how to advocate to get the Citizens Institute on Rural Design ideas integrated into the next phase of Keene city plans. (Zoom link here.)
Attend the city's public input event on April 3, 2024, 3:00-4:30 PM or 5:30-7:00 PM to advocate for these ideas on Gilbo Ave. A public input workshop will be held at the Keene Recreation Center, 312 Washington Street, Room 14. More info here.
Attend the MSFI committee meeting on April 10, 2024, 5:30 PM, Focus Area: Gilbo Avenue/Railroad Square. The City Council Municipal Services, Facilities, and Infrastructure (MSFI) meeting will review the project focus areas. These meetings are open to the public and will take place in Keene City Hall, Council Chambers (2nd floor). More info here.
