Elm Leaf Arts

Arts Alive is actively working to brighten the community through public art pieces and murals. To highlight local arts-related businesses in downtown Keene, local artists created a temporary, interactive wayfinding activity that connects and artfully celebrates the arts in our community. An elm tree mural on the side of the Showroom asks the question, “Can you find the missing leaves?” There are elm leaves with artwork inside them at several arts venues in downtown Keene. Arts Alive worked with Keene State College senior Sofia El Hakim, who served as the Artistic Director for this project. She created the elm tree mural, worked with several student artists from Keene State to develop the designs and artwork, supported recruitment of arts businesses to participate in the project, and she is coordinating the installations with the city’s Director of Public Works.
