Business Support

Arts Alive supports the Creative Community in many ways. Take advantage of our tools, including grants research, and our regional marketing program Discover Monadnock. Or participate in our business support programs, including fiscal sponsorship, sign up for a coaching session, and more.

Grants

Each fall Arts Alive offers minigrants of up to $250 for artists working in the Monadnock region.

There are many GREAT grant searching programs all around us. Here are the most relevant and helpful ones we’ve found - many of which have the capability to narrow your search based on your project or organization!

Libraries often have access to great grant search programs as well. Check with your local library!

data to make your case

If you are looking to apply for a grant, or make the case for investment in the arts, take a look at these resources. Specifically tailored to New Hampshire and the Monadnock region, you’ll find data on the economic and social impact of the arts here.

This page includes data from our 2008 and 2016 Arts & Economic Prosperity Studies done in partnership with Americans for the Arts, that looked at the nonprofit arts sector’s impact on our local economy.

There is a link to a calculator so arts organizations can easily calculate their economic impact based on what we know about the spending habits of Monadnock region audiences. This can be helpful in grant applications and advocacy projects.

Arts & Culture Promotion

Arts Alive encourages artists, arts & culture organizations, and creative economy businesses to engage in regional marketing initiatives to build the regions identity as a cultural and creative destination and place to live. We have worked with the Monadnock Travel Council, local Chambers of Commerce, and downtown groups to develop our Discover Monadnock program, and work on a regional brand statement.

ewing arts awards

Every July, the Keene Sentinel and Arts Alive partner to celebrate the diversity and excellence of artists in the Monadnock region. The mission of this event is to bring hometown recognition to local, world-class artists. Selected artists receive recognition at a gala event, are profiled in an article and receive a photoshoot with a professional photographer from the Sentinel, and have a short video made about their work.

Arts Incubation & Fiscal Sponsorship

Arts Alive offers incubation and fiscal sponsorship to groups seeking to raise money for a nonprofit arts or culture oriented cause in New Hampshire. This service helps groups that are not or not-yet nonprofits secure tax deductible donations and access grants only available to nonprofit organizations. Arts Alive offers this service to individual artists and one-time projects.

Coaching & Referrals

Arts Alive offers business coaching services through the Hannah Grimes Center’s pro bono coaching program. Appointments are booked through the Hannah Grimes website.

Artists, nonprofit arts staff, arts advocates, town planners, economic development professionals, and tourism industry workers are welcome to come to coaching hours for referrals, creative economy and arts market data, to learn about workshops and opportunities (from grants to marketing), to discuss long-term cultural planning and arts integration for towns and businesses, to brainstorm ideas for partnerships, and to connect on communicating the value of arts and culture in a community. Jessica Gelter, executive director of the organization since 2014, will be in the coach’s chair. Gelter is also an artist, performer, playwright, past arts educator, and community arts organizer passionate about the arts for its transformative power in communities.

education for Artists

Arts Alive works in partnership with the Hannah Grimes Center and other partners to present workshops and fieldtrips that will help artists grow their buisnesses, develop their markets, and connect to important resources.

Recordings of some of these workshops held on Zoom can be found on our website and YouTube channel.
