Arts Alive News: Coaching hours in Keene & Peterborough

Arts Alive! partners with Hannah Grimes Center & Peterborough Chamber to offer coaching hours

Arts Alive! will be hosting coaching hours at The Hannah Grimes Center in Keene on the First Fridays of the month and coaching hours at the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce on the Fourth Fridays of the month.

“Arts Alive! thrives on its relationships,” Gelter says. “Over the last ten years we have been able to reach so many and offer our services to so many because of great partners like Hannah Grimes Center and the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce. These coaching hours allow us to be a more visible and accessible resource to businesses and organizations that would like to learn more and take advantage of our great tools, information, and connections.”

Arts Alive! is the arts service organization of the Monadnock region. Artists, nonprofit arts staff, arts advocates, town planners, economic development professionals, and tourism industry workers are welcome to come to coaching hours for referrals, creative economy and arts market data, to learn about workshops and opportunities (from grants to marketing), to discuss long-term cultural planning and arts integration for towns and businesses, to brainstorm ideas for partnerships, and to connect on communicating the value of arts and culture in a community.

Jessica Gelter, executive director of the organization for the past 5 years, will be in the coach’s chair. Gelter is also an artist, performer, playwright, past arts educator, and community arts organizer passionate about the arts for its transformative power in communities. She also sits on her town’s planning commission and is the chair of the NH Creative Communities Network.

Arts Alive! is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization working to sustain, promote and expand access to arts and cultural resources in the Monadnock Region. Gelter says, “arts and culture are community assets that enhance financial strength, health and wellness, and social capital in the communities where they are supported.”

Arts Alive! parnters with the Hannah Grimes Center to present workshops for artists to develop and deepen their business practices and skills through the Artist to Artist program, now in its fifth year. Offering coaching sessions in the Hannah Grimes Center’s space enhances that partnership.

The Hannah Grimes Center for Entrepreneurship educates, supports, and assists in the successful development of entrepreneurs who are committed to building a vibrant community. They offer pro bono coaching for business owners and nonprofit leaders to meet with business coaches and consultants who volunteer their time to assist growing organizations.

"The goal of one to one pro bono coaching is to offer entrepreneurs and growing organizations an opportunity to connect with a professional coach or consultant at no cost up to three times per coach, says Hannah Grimes Center program director, Kate Hickey. "This helps you really dig into an issue or project with guidance and have check-ins along the way. It's also an opportunity for entrepreneurs to meet experienced and dedicated professionals in the business community who want to contribute their expertise to support a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem."

In addition to adding coaching hours at the Hannah Grimes Center, Arts Alive! is also partnering with the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce to offer coaching and office hours.

“We are a regional organization,” says Gelter. “Often people see us as Keene-centric because that is where our office is located, but that isn’t the case! We offer our Artist to Artist program in studios and arts spaces all over the region, and we are available as a resource for any Monadnock region town, artist, arts organization, or group that wants to take advantage of our services.”

To emphasize that point, Arts Alive! is hosting office hours in Peterborough at the Chamber, and participating in the “Hub and Spoke” economic development work the community is undertaking to support the economic vitality of Peterborough.
